Istanbul Free Wifi
Free WiFi in Istanbul
Istanbul has plenty of free WiFi if you know where to look. The map above shows hotspots reported by other travellers, with passwords where we have them. Tap a pin to see the network name and copy the password.
Where to find free WiFi
Cafés and restaurants: most places in Sultanahmet, Karaköy and Kadıköy share their password if you ask. It's often printed on the receipt.
Shopping malls: large malls offer free WiFi after a quick SMS or social login.
İBB WiFi: the city's free network covers squares, ferry piers and many metro stations. You register once with a phone number.
Hotels and hostels: almost all include WiFi, and lobbies are usually open to non-guests during the day.
Tips for staying connected
Save the networks you use often. Many cafés keep the same password for months.
Use a VPN on open networks, especially when you log in to banking or email.
Coverage on ferries is patchy. Download maps and tickets before you board.
If you need data all day, a local eSIM is often cheaper than roaming.
